Integrated Child Protection Scheme

The Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) is a governmental program implemented by the Government of India to help secure the safety of children, with a special emphasis on children in need of care and protection, juveniles in conflict or contact with the law and other vulnerable children.

ICPS is administered and implemented in state level by State Child Protection Society (SCPS) and District level by District Child Protection Unit (DCPU).

OBJECTIVES

The main Objective of the Scheme is to enhance the well being of Children in different circumstances, as well as the reduction of Vulnerability to situations.

1. Child in Need of Care and Protection (CWC)
2. Child in Conflict with Law (JJB)
3. Child in contact with Law

FUNCTIONARIES

1. Institutional Care : Monitoring CCI’s
2. Non-institutional Care : Adoption, Sponsorship/Aftercare/Foster Care

OTHER ACTIVITIES

• Train and build capacity of all personnel (Government and Non-government) working under child protection system to provide effective services to children.
• Network and coordinate with all government departments to build inter-sectoral linkages on child protection issues, including Departments of Health, Education, Social Welfare, Urban Basic Services, Backward Classes & Minorities, Youth Services, Police, Judiciary, Labour, State AIDS Control Society, among others.
• Encourage voluntary youth participation in child protection programs at district, block and community levels.
• Ensuring better child protection services.
• Preparation and distribute of IEC materials to the allied Department.
• Creating awareness among the public.
