Population Based Non Communicable Diseases Screening Programme
Normally Non Communicable disease control programme provides screening of hypertension diabetes, cervical cancer and breast cancer for anyone aged 30 years and above attending PHC/GH but the fact is that only 30 to 40 % of the population attend public health facilities the remaining population are outside concerned then there are need to do health sub centre (HSC) based population based screening for hypertension /diabetes/cervical and breast cancer. This is to be done by making house visits in the HSC area to screen individuals.
Population based Non-Communicable diseases Screening programme was initiated in krishngiri district as pilot programme along with two other districts (Pudukkottai and Perambalur)from Nov-2017.Each HSC in the block area have assigned to one filed level functionary. Out of 238 HSC’s in krishnagiri districts 164 women health volunteers have appointed through TNCDW (Mahalir thittam) and for remaining 74 HSC’S Pre-Existing ASHA have included in this programme.
In this programme, each field functionary visits house by house and done screening for Hypertension /Diabetes above 30 years population by using electronic BP Appear and Glucometer and they will refer the individuals who are having abnormal values of BP and RBS and also they will refer all women who are above 30 years to hereby PHC’s for cervical cancer &breast cancer screening.
They will follow-up all know cases of Hypertension /Diabetes cervical cancer and breast cancer for their regular treatment.
