The AGAMT scheme is the biggest scheme in terms of allocation among the all State Schemes. The 337 Panchayats of this District have been assigned in ascending order based on the lowest per capita income. Based on the list, 67 village panchayats will be taken up for the implementation of the AGAMT in each of the Financial Year from 2006-07 onwards. The village panchayats taken up for the implementation of Anna Marumalarchi Thittam from 1996 to 2001 will be taken up in 2010 – 2011. A sum of Rs.20.00 lakhs will be allocated to each of the Panchayat under this scheme.

The objective of the scheme is to create community assets in rural areas, providing basic amenities and fulfill the statutory duties of village panchayats.

Under this scheme, the tied works such as Cement Roads, Street lights, Fish pond, Water Harvesting structures, Water supply works, School / Community play ground, Library and Shandy should be taken up to the tune of Rs.15.00 lakhs and for the remaining amount of Rs.5.00 lakhs other works will be taken up.

For the year 2006-07, 67 village panchayats have been taken up for the implementation of AGAMT and 3100 Nos. of works have been taken up and completed to the tune of Rs.1340.00 lakhs. Apart from this, works / benefits to the value of Rs.6711.59 lakhs have been taken up / distributed by dovetailing the funds of RD & Other Departments under various schemes. The average resource per Panchayat works out to Rs.100.17 lakhs.

For the year 2007-08, 67 village panchayats have been taken up for the implementation of AGAMT in 2nd phase and Administrative Sanctions have been accorded to take up 2560 Nos. of works, of which 2261 Nos. of works have been completed and the remaining 299 Nos. of works will be completed by 31.03.08 and the entire allocation of Rs.1340.00 lakhs will be spent. For the year 2007-08 in the 67 Nos. of AGAMT village panchayats, works / benefits to the value of Rs.5377.311 lakhs have been taken up / distributed by dovetailing the funds of RD & Other Departments under various schemes. The average resource per Panchayat works out to Rs.80.258 lakhs.
